My name is Justin Pate. I am a husband, father, friend, never productive enough productivity junkie, and constant learner. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, playing music, reading, watching great TV shows and Movies, listening to a vast variety of music, the occasional video game, and a vast array of on again, off again hobbies.
I work as a software developer, which turns out a great place to follow my passions of learning, teaching, producing useful tools, and working with intelligent and creative people. I knew nothing about computer programming until my first computer science class in my sophomore year of high school. I had no idea that that class would lead me to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree and into a career of working on applications used by millions of people worldwide! I was lucky to have a good friend, who is also now a software developer, encourage me to try that class and later mentor and encourage me through college and into this amazing career!
I currently work for a company supporting the health care industry. I help build internal tools to manage database change deployments to 2,000+ production database servers, as well as help with occasional enhancements to the company’s insurance claim management application that helps care providers ensure that insurance companies honor their contracts.
Prior to my current job, I worked for a small firm that developed and administered talent selection and people development software via a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. I was responsible for maintaining legacy Classic ASP web applications that administrated talent selection tests, as well as helping build newer platforms in ASP.NET WebForms and MVC frameworks.
